
KATHMANDU: Nepal received pledged foreign direct investment (FDI) worth Rs 24.1 billion ($172.32 million) in the first month of the current fiscal year 2025/26 that started in mid-July, the Department of Industry said on Sunday.
The amount rose significantly from Rs 597.56 million during the first month of the previous fiscal year, the department noted.
The newly-committed investments were for 127 projects with a target of creating 8,268 jobs, the department said, adding the information and communication technology sector received the highest commitments regarding the number of projects, while the agriculture and forestry sector topped the list in terms of pledged amount.
