
KATHMANDU: The current account recorded a surplus of Rs 409.20 billion in fiscal year 2024/25, up from Rs 221.71 billion in the previous year, according to the latest macroeconomic and financial situation report issued by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Sunday. In US dollar terms, the current account registered a surplus of $ 3.01 billion, compared with $ 1.67 billion a year earlier.
Net capital transfers amounted to Rs 9.84 billion in the review year, against Rs 5.81 billion in the previous year. Foreign direct investment (equity only) receipts rose to Rs 12.02 billion, up from Rs 8.47 billion a year earlier.
The balance of payments (BOP)remained in surplus at Rs 594.54 billion in the review year, compared with Rs 502.49 billion in the previous year. In US dollar terms, the balance of payments surplus increased to $ 4.37 billion from $ 3.77 billion.
