Finance Minister invites overseas Nepalis to invest in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has invited Nepalis living abroad to invest in Nepal.

Speaking at the inauguration of the first convention of the Association of Nepali Origin (ANO) Nepal Chapter on Tuesday, Minister Paudel said development and prosperity of the country are a source of happiness for all Nepalis, and the government is working accordingly. ‘Cooperation of Nepalis living abroad is necessary, and the government is creating an investment-friendly environment and is ready to facilitate it further,’ he said.

He added that the ANO has a role to play in connecting Nepalis around the globe and stressed the need for exchange programmes.

ANO Central President Dilli Adhikari said the organisation was formed in Thailand last year with the participation of Nepalis from 32 countries, with the aim of helping to build a golden future for all Nepalis.

A 13-member Nepal Chapter of the ANO has been formed under the coordination of former President Krishna Prasad Sapkota. Rajendra Adhikari has been elected vice chair, Phulmman Bal general secretary, Krishna Prasad Odari secretary and Yamuna Parajuli Adhikari treasurer. In addition, Geeta Gurung, Sushila Nepali, Ranjan Bidari, Krishna BK, Ravita Tamang, Sunil Thapa and Diksha Chapai were elected members of the chapter.
