KATHMANDU: The government has decided to carry out a judicial investigation into the loss of life and property that occurred across the country during Gen Z protests on Monday.

The meeting of the Council of Ministers on Monday decided to launch a judicial probe into the incident, according to the Minister for Communications and Information Technology, Prithvi Subba Gurung.

The meeting extended its sympathies to the families of those bereaved and decided to provide relief and compensation, and to ensure free treatment for the injured, Minister Gurung said.

The government has also urged Gen Z to postpone their protest programmes and cooperate with the government in maintaining law and order.

The cabinet concluded that there had been infiltrations in the protests and that perpetrators would be brought to book after investigations, Minister Gurung added.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has been tasked with facilitating the resumption of social networking platforms.
