KATHMANDU: Security and civil service leaders have appealed for public restraint to prevent further loss of life and property amid Gen Z protests that have been ongoing across the country, including in the Kathmandu Valley, since Monday. The appeal follows the acceptance of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli’s resignation.

In a joint statement, the Nepal government’s Chief Secretary, Eaknarayan Aryal; Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Ashok Raj Sigdel; Home Secretary Gokarna Mani Duwadee; Inspector General of the Armed Police Force, Nepal, Raju Aryal; Inspector General of Police Chandra Kuber Khapung; and Head of the National Investigation Department Hutraj Thapa urged all concerned parties to find a peaceful solution to the current situation through political dialogue as soon as possible.
They offered condolences to those who lost their lives during the protests in Kathmandu and other parts of the country, noting the significant loss of life and property, and expressed sympathy to their families.
