KATHMANDU: Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA), the umbrella organisation of the country’s engineers, has announced that it will provide technical assistance free of charge for the assessment of damage caused during the Gen Z protests and for reconstruction efforts.

In a press statement, the NEA’s General Secretary, Binod Prakash Pandit, said that the assessment and reconstruction efforts will be supported by the provision of technical assistance free of charge.

“The hard work, labour and expertise of Nepal’s technical human resources are crucial in the reconstruction of physical properties damaged in the earthquakes of 1990 BS and 2072 BS. The Association wishes to continue this support in the future,” Pandit said.

On Sunday, the Association began preliminary assessments of the buildings of the Supreme Court (SC), the Kathmandu District Court and the Nepal Bar Association, the Association’s president, Subash Chandra Baral, said.

Baral added that the assessments cover initial inspection of physical properties, risk assessment, alternative management planning and feasibility studies for reconstruction bids.
