KATHMANDU: Chandragiri Hills, operator of Chandragiri Cable Car, has expressed deep sorrow for the lives lost and injuries sustained during the Gen-Z protests since September 8, and has vowed to resume services swiftly despite significant damage to its bottom station.

In a statement, the publicly traded company paid tribute to the departed, prayed for their eternal peace and offered strength to bereaved families while wishing a speedy recovery to the injured. Chandragiri Hills said it shared the protest’s aims of good governance, corruption control, employment and economic prosperity, but condemned the 'unimaginable and undesirable' acts of vandalism and arson that caused extensive damage to its facility.

The company emphasised that it is a national asset owned by millions of shareholders and was founded to develop premier tourist destinations for domestic and international visitors. It highlighted its contributions to tourism promotion, revenue growth, job creation and local development in Nepal.

Despite the attack on September 9, Chandragiri Hills insisted its resolve remained undiminished. It thanked security personnel, local communities and employees for their efforts to limit the damage and control the fire, and apologised for the inconvenience caused to tourists and visitors.

Looking ahead, Chandragiri Hills said it would rebuild and resume operations as soon as possible, drawing strength from public goodwill and co-operation. It called on authorities to support protective coordination with local communities and pledged to invest further, create jobs and deliver even higher-quality services in the near future.
