MORANG: Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal has said there is no possibility of abolishing the provincial structure.
Speaking to journalists at Biratnagar Airport, Khanal, who also holds the Federal Affairs and General Administration portfolio, said the current government is operating in accordance with the Constitution and has no intention of removing the provinces.
Asked about circulating speculation on currency notes, he said there had been no discussion about banning Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 banknotes at present.
He added that a study is underway into the impact of the integrated Goods and Services Tax imposed by the Government of India and that adjustments will be made if it is found to be harming industries and industrial establishments.
