
MALEKHU: Vehicular movement on Prithvi Highway is at a complete standstill after landslides struck at Jawangkhola and Tingrangkhani in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10 in Dhading district.
The landslides began at 10:00 am today, blocking traffic. Police Inspector Suraj Shrestha at District Traffic Police Office, Gajuri said efforts are underway to clear debris and reopen the route.
Thousands of vehicles remain stranded as travellers return home for the Dashain festival.
Security personnel have been mobilised to guide vehicles to safer holding areas, Superintendent of Police (SP) Bhesh Raj Rijal at District Police Office, Dhading confirmed. Passengers have been urged to remain alert and consider alternative routes.
The Prithvi highway had remained completely blocked for 17 hours due to dry landslide that occurred at Jwangkhola on Monday night.
Vehicular movement was brought into operation this morning after removing debris from the landslide that occurred on Wednesday evening.
