KATHMANDU: An assembly of entrepreneurs and businesspeople in Mustang District has formed an ad hoc committee of Mustang Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCI) under the chairmanship of Raju Prasad Lalchan.

The assembly, which concluded on Friday under the chairmanship of FNCCI's Gandaki Province Chapter President Amrit Prasad Bhattachan and with FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal as chief guest, elected Tilak BK as secretary, Bishnu Sherchan as treasurer and Ganesh Sherchan, Yogesh Sherchan, Binod BC and Nishan Tulachan as members. Delegates also agreed to nominate one representative from each of the district’s four rural municipalities.

The executive committee of Mustang CCI had not been formed since the then president, Khagendra Tulachan, resigned from his post.

Congratulating the new committee, President Dhakal said he expected it to play an effective role in promoting business interests, marketing local products and energising the economy, and he stated that FNCCI stood ready to help.

He added that Mustang’s Korala transit point should be developed as a centre for trilateral trade, noting that once the Kaligandaki Corridor is complete, Korala will become the shortest route connecting Nepal, China and India.

A team including FNCCI President Dhakal and the presidents of the district CCIs under the Gandaki Province president arrived in Jomsom to study and observe the condition and potential of Korala transit point on Nepal–China border.
