
KATHMANDU: Nine major highways in three provinces are blocked due to floods and landslides triggered by incessant rainfall across the country on October 3 and 4.
Police headquarters said the highways in Koshi, Bagmati and Karnali provinces have been blocked due to the disaster.
The Koshi Highway is obstructed at Barunkhola, Bhotkhola Rural Municipality‑4, and at Ekuwa, Makalu Rural Municipality‑3 in Sankhuwasabha district. Floods and landslides have blocked the Mechi Highway at Rajduwali, Ilam Municipality‑9 in Ilam district, and the Tamor Corridor at Nawakhola, Tumbewa Rural Municipality‑2 in Panchthar district, the police central spokesperson, Deputy Inspector General Binod Ghimire, said.
A section of the Pasang Lhamu Highway in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality‑2, Rasuwa district, the BP Highway at Mamtikhola in Roshi Rural Municipality‑11, Kavrepalanchok district, and the BP Highway at Nepalthok in Sunkoshi Rural Municipality‑1, Sindhuli district, have also been blocked.
DIG Ghimire said the Karnali Corridor is completely blocked at Kurilla, Kharpunath Rural Municipality‑5 in Humla district, and at Jugenikhola, Pachaljharana Rural Municipality‑8 in Kalikot district.
Police said one‑way traffic has been opened on the Koshi Highway in Sangurigadhi Rural Municipality‑1, Dhankuta district, and on the Kanti Highway at Baguwakhola, Bhimphedi Rural Municipality‑8, and at Ghattepakha, Bakaia Rural Municipality‑11, Makawanpur district.
