Roshani Adhikari Pathak elected to IUCN Regional Council for West and South Asia

KATHMANDU: Former chairperson of Nepal Forum of Environmental Journalists (NEFEJ) Roshani Adhikari Pathak has been elected Regional Council member of the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

The Embassy of Nepal in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, said Adhikari has been elected a member of the IUCN Regional Council for West and South Asia for 2026–2029.

During the IUCN World Conservation Congress held in Abu Dhabi from October 9 to 15, there was a race among seven candidates from India, China, Pakistan, Malaysia, Japan and Nepal for the five regional council positions.

The Congress has elected new leadership and national representatives for the 2026–2029 term.

Rajan Khalifa Al Mubarak of the United Arab Emirates has been re-elected President of the IUCN for the 2026–2029 term.
