GORKHA: The northern belt of Gorkha district received snow overnight, local officials and residents said.
Snowfall is occurring across different parts of Chumnuwri Rural Municipality, affecting normal life in the area, Pasang Funjo Lama of Chumanuwri Rural Municipality‑7 said. "The area received light rain and snow last night. Snow is still falling. Residents are staying indoors. The yaks have been brought into the sheds," Lama added.
Villages at altitudes above 3,000 metres, including Nile, Chhule, Pangdun, Lar, Phurpe, Lamagaun, Burji, Jong and Chhekam, are reported to be covered in snow. Samagaun, Syala and Lho have also been blanketed by the snowfall.
Tourists and trekkers in the Manaslu region have been affected, with those attempting the Larke Pass forced to halt their journeys partway because of the conditions.
