KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) has proposed a middle‑path solution to resolve the long‑standing dispute over the outstanding electricity tariff of the dedicated feeder and trunk line.

To address the issue, Prime Minister Sushila Karki today discussed the dispute with Finance Minister Rameshore Prasad Khanal, Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Kul Man Ghising, Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Anil Kumar Sinha, Chief Secretary Eaknarayan Aryal, secretaries of various ministries and FNCCI President Chandra Prasad Dhakal.

FNCCI has stated that a middle‑path proposal for resolving the dedicated feeder and trunk line dispute was presented during the discussion with ministers.

According to the FNCCI, the proposal suggests that industrialists deposit an amount equivalent to one instalment of the previous 28‑instalment facility provided by the Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA), not as a regular instalment but as a deposit for the disputed amount, following which the cut electricity line will be reconnected.

The press release issued by FNCCI said that after depositing the said amount industrialists will be able to go for review and simultaneously seek other legal remedies. The concerned industrialist can submit an application to NEA for depositing the deposit amount while also including their disagreement, request for review and other necessary details in the same application.

Currently, NEA has cut the power lines of nearly two dozen industries, citing non‑payment of the premium amount for using the dedicated and trunk lines.
