KATHMANDU: Ncell and MetLife Nepal have launched a bundled mobile data and insurance product, 'Data Sangai Jeevan Beema', offering life and critical illness cover alongside low‑cost data packs.
The partnership lets Ncell data customers choose between two packages. The Rs 99 pack, including taxes, provides 100MB of data valid for three days and is bundled with term life insurance of Rs 200,000 and critical illness cover of Rs 200,000, valid for 30 days from subscription. Similarly, the Rs 39 pack offers 100MB of data for three days with term life and critical illness cover of Rs 50,000 each, valid for 30 days from subscription.
Customers can subscribe through the Ncell App by selecting a package and completing a short information form required by MetLife Nepal, or by dialling *123*4*6#. Term life coverage begins immediately after submission, while critical illness coverage carries a 30‑day waiting period.
The companies have said the offering aims to expand insurance access to previously underserved communities by combining low entry cost with fully digital onboarding and meaningful coverage. Ncell describes the scheme as a step towards greater financial inclusion and social protection in Nepal.
“We are delighted to partner with MetLife Nepal to strengthen the safety net for our customers across the country. This collaboration goes beyond financial protection; it’s a social commitment that extends insurance coverage to the wider Nepali community at the micro level. At Ncell, creating value for our customers is at the heart of what we do, bringing smiles and positivity to their lives,” said Upanga Dutta, Chief Consumer Business Officer of Ncell.
“At MetLife Nepal, we believe protection is a right, not a privilege. This partnership means that, for the first time, a small, short‑term data purchase can give you and your family longer‑term peace of mind,” said Arun Bahadur Basnet, Chief Distribution Officer of MetLife Nepal.
Ncell is Nepal’s first private telecommunications service provider, established in 2004 and operating since 2005. The company says it has contributed over Rs 360 billion in taxes and fees since its inception and more than Rs 2 billion to social projects through Ncell Foundation. Spectrlite UK acquired full ownership of Reynolds Holdings, which held an 80 per cent stake in Ncell, and Ncell is now described as Nepali‑origin owned.
Likewise, MetLife is a global financial services company operating in more than 40 markets. MetLife Nepal has operated in the country since 2001, providing life, accident and health insurance and employee benefits.
