KATHMANDU: Nepal Women Chamber under Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) held a startup entrepreneurship orientation programme in Kathmandu on Wednesday.
More than 100 innovators attended the programme, which was conducted by Nepal Women Chamber in collaboration with the Industrial Enterprise Development Institute (IEDI). The orientation covered loan procedures and the nature of industries for those wishing to apply for the startup loan initiated by the government.
The deadline for startup loan proposals called for by the IEDI is November 25. At the event held at Chamber Bhawan, IEDI Executive Director Umesh Gupta briefed innovators on how to prepare proposals, the loan application process and the sectors eligible for funding.
Addressing the programme, NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal emphasised the need to develop entrepreneurship by expanding the startup loan to all seven provinces. He suggested the loan should be increased in the budget for the forthcoming fiscal year and extended nationwide.
Agrawal added that success stories of innovators who have used startup loans should be promoted and that support must be provided for production and marketing. He said the NCC would assist with further study and research on startup loans.
Nepal Women Chamber Chairperson Urmila Shrestha stressed the importance of proper utilisation of the startup loan to develop entrepreneurship and said the NCC will continue orientation programmes on women’s entrepreneurship.
