KATHMANDU: The 14th annual general meeting (AGM) of Nepal Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (NVCCI) on Wednesday elected a new executive committee under the leadership of businessperson Sunil Bhakta Shrestha.
The new leadership includes Deepak Malhotra and Urmila Shrestha as senior vice presidents, Gopaldas Manandhar as vice president, Nabin Saru (Dol Bahadur Thapa) as general secretary and Swati Ghoriwala as treasurer, the NVCCI said in a press release issued today.
Pavitra Man Gurung and Prakash Ram Shrestha have been elected as secretaries on the new executive committee. Elected members of the committee are Manish Lal Pradhan, Sushil Sthapit, Deepak Maharjan, Sanjeev Tuladhar, Raju Shrestha, Shyam Marwadi, Rashmi Pant, Kumar Shrestha, Prakash Regmi, Ayush Bahadur Shrestha, Ramesh Parajuli, Vidhata Shrestha, Achyut Bahadur Hada, Sakam Ghimire and Sarvottam Lal Shrestha.
Kiran Kumar Shrestha, Dhruva Kumar Shrestha and Dr Saroj Adhikari have been appointed as advisors by the new leadership.
On the occasion, newly elected president Shrestha pledged to take further measures to strengthen and expand trade relations with Vietnam. Highlighting the huge trade potential between the two countries, he pledged to fully utilise his term to promote bilateral trade, attract investment and connect entrepreneurs.
As vice president, Urmila Shrestha assured the organisation would contribute to identifying areas for potential joint investment between Nepal and Vietnam, promoting trade, attracting investment and sharing business experience between the two sides.
During the inaugural session, Honorary Consul General for Vietnam Rajesh Kazi Shrestha said the role of the Chamber is vital in taking Nepal–Vietnam trade relations to new heights. The potential for Nepali products in the Vietnamese market is rising, he said, and the Chamber could further explore this possibility, underlining the need for greater cooperation between the two nations with a focus on agriculture, tourism, trade and IT sectors.
