KATHMANDU: Gulshan Kumar Jha, a young player from the national cricket team, has been honoured with the Sanskriti Sports Award

Jha, a young player from the national cricket team, has been honoured with the Sanskriti Sports Award during a special ceremony held as part of Sanskriti International School’s annual sports day. Jha was presented with the award and a cash prize of Rs 101,000 in recognition of his contribution to sport.

Minister for Youth and Sports Bablu Gupta, chief guest at the programme, handed over the certificate of honour and the cash prize and praised Jha’s contribution to the sports sector. Minister Gupta expressed confidence that such honours will further inspire the younger generation to become disciplined, competent and self‑reliant through sport.

Prajwal Oli, First Vice President of Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF), attended the programme as a special guest and commended Sanskriti’s continued encouragement of sporting talent. The organisers said the NSJF and Sanskriti School have jointly selected recipients and collaborated on the award each year.

Sanskriti School has previously honoured outstanding players and personalities from various fields. In earlier editions, runner‑up Santoshi Shrestha received the award in the first edition, cricketer Kushal Malla in the second, and Palesha Goverdhan in the third.

On the occasion, Sanskriti International School Chairperson Ranjit Acharya expressed his commitment to continue encouraging talents who promote the nation’s identity globally through sport.
