KATHMANDU: Kathmandu University on Friday concluded the inaugural Kathmandu University Model United Nations (KUMUN) 2025. The three-day conference at its Dhulikhel campus brought together more than 250 delegates and engaged over 5,000 students, faculty, and online participants.

The closing ceremony opened with the national anthem and included formal remarks from Aayush Chaudhary, President of Youth for Change – KU and Head of Conference, and Professor Dr Bim Prasad Shrestha, who attended as Guest of Honour and emphasised the importance of youth-led dialogue and academic diplomacy.

Secretary-General Pratyush Pant and Deputy Secretary-General Sambridhi Neupane delivered final remarks, acknowledging the efforts of delegates, volunteers and partner organisations that contributed to the conference’s success.

KUMUN 2025 featured six committees: the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Federal Parliament of Nepal (FPN), the Economic and Financial Affairs Council (ECOFIN), the United Nations Security Council (UNSC), the International Press Corps (IPC) and the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC). Over three days, delegates engaged in resolution drafting, moderated negotiations and policy-focused discussions.

The conference concluded with awards recognising outstanding performances, including Best Delegate, Outstanding Delegate and Best Position Paper.

Organisers Youth for Change (YFC-KU) and Kathmandu University Leadership and Professional Development (KU-LPD) said KUMUN 2025 marked a significant milestone for the university by merging academic diplomacy with cultural expression and leadership development, and expressed their commitment to continuing platforms that empower young leaders across Nepal.
