KATHMANDU: The 11th Nepal Wood International Expo and Nepal Interior & Furniture Expo, organised jointly by Media Space Solutions and Futurex Trade Fair and Events at Bhrikutimandap, Kathmandu, concluded on Sunday.

The three‑day exhibition, which opened on Friday, featured more than 100 stalls showcasing domestic and international brands and products related to the wood, furniture and interior sectors. Organisers said the event has, over the past 11 years, become a milestone for sharing information and introducing new technologies to furniture, plywood and woodworking tool companies, laminate manufacturers and dealers.

The event was jointly inaugurated on Friday by Rabindra Shakya, president of Federation of Handicraft Associations of Nepal (FHAN); Thakur Bhandari, chairperson of Federation of Community Forestry Users Nepal (FECOFUN); Dinesh Raj Regmi, chairperson of Federation of Forest‑based Industry and Trade, Nepal (FENFIT‑Nepal); Hom Prasad Ghimire, president of Nepal Plywood Manufacturers Association (NPMA); and Shyam Shrestha, president of Interior Designers Association of Nepal.

At this year’s expo, the organisers took the initiative to introduce world‑renowned companies and brands to the Nepali market and to encourage the adoption of sophisticated products and technology in domestic industries. The exhibition helped businesses of all sizes upgrade existing machines and processes to improve efficiency, according to organisers.

A two‑day seminar and workshop programme, run by experts from the Interior Designers Association of Nepal, was held at the venue to discuss industry trends and technical topics.

Organisers said the exhibition served as a platform to make technologies successfully used abroad readily available in the Nepali market and to support wood product manufacturing activities in the country.

The event attracted a steady flow of visitors, including individuals planning to build homes, members of the general public and prominent architects, engineers and interior designers. Organisers said the high turnout demonstrated the expo’s role in bridging the gap between demand and supply in Nepal’s wood materials, interior‑exterior design and machinery sectors and in supporting the ongoing development and modernisation of those industries.
