KATHMANDU: A 10‑rupee postage stamp bearing the portrait of the late industrialist and philanthropist Om Prakash Goyal has been issued in Kathmandu.

The stamp was released on Tuesday by Jagadish Kharel, Minister for Communication and Information Technology, at a ceremony organised by the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology (MoCIT) and the Department of Postal Service, and co‑organised by the Goyal Foundation.

Speaking at the event, Minister Kharel paid tribute to Goyal’s contributions to society, saying that although he is no longer physically present, his deeds have made him immortal. “The significance of living is fulfilled by the help provided to others. Those who live for others become distinguished and immortal,” he said. “It is because of the contributions the late Goyal made for others that he is now featured on a postage stamp. The work he did for society has made him immortal.”

Manmaya Bhattarai Pangeni, Director General of the Department of Postal Service, who chaired the ceremony, said the stamp was issued in recognition of Goyal’s service to society and thanked those who supported the initiative.

He added that the family remained indebted to the Government and the Department of Postal Service for honouring his father’s lifetime of service.
