KATHMANDU: Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) formally handed over emergency assistance to the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) and Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office after both were severely affected during the Gen‑Z protests on September 8 and 9.
The handover was carried out on Tuesday by a NAIMA team led by President Ritu Singh Vaidya and including board member Yamuna Shrestha and Executive Director Raj Kumar Dulal.
DoTM Director General Rajiv Pokharel thanked the organisation at the ceremony, saying the support from NAIMA during the emergency was significant and enabled the DoTM to resume its services from its own office.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Nawaraj Adhikari, Chief of Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office, also praised NAIMA’s institutional support and the emergency assistance provided by its members. He said that despite being established only recently, NAIMA has built long-term cooperation with the Traffic Police Office and described the association as a reliable partner in traffic education and management.
At the programme, NAIMA President Vaidya said she was proud to provide assistance during 'an hour of crisis', adding that collaboration with agencies involved in public service delivery is a core operational concept of NAIMA and that the association is committed to strengthening such cooperation in the future.
Executive Director Dulal said the assistance included reconstruction of all windows and doors of the main building of DoTM at Minbhawan, and provision of furniture, furnishings, computers and printers to the Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office.
