PANAUTI: The Security Printing Center in Panauti Municipality-5 has produced around 9,000 driving licenses over the past two months, according to the Department of Transport Management (DoTM).
Since the printing resumed on 7 November, a total of 8,983 licenses have been printed at the Centre, the department said. Printing had previously been disrupted after the department’s ‘mass printer’ was vandalised during the Gen Z uprising.
The printing facility in Panauti was inaugurated by Minister for Communication and Information Technology Jagadish Kharel on 7 November. The move followed a contract signed between the Department and the Security Printing Center on 29 October last year, under which the Centre is set to provide 1.2 million licenses over six months.
Keshab Khatiwada, IT Director at the Department of Transport Management, confirmed that nearly 9,000 licenses have been produced in the first two months of operation, marking a significant step toward restoring normal services for drivers across the country.
The initiative is expected to help streamline license distribution and reduce delays, ensuring timely access for applicants nationwide.
