KATHMANDU: Remittance inflows into the country increased 35.6% to Rs 870.31 billion in the first five months of fiscal year 2025/26, the macroeconomic and financial situation report released by Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Friday said. The growth compared with an increase of 4.7% in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
During mid‑November to mid‑December (Mangsir month), remittance inflows stood at Rs 183.18 billion, up from Rs 118.79 billion in the same period a year earlier.
In US dollar terms, remittance inflows rose 29.0% to $6.16 billion in the review period, compared with a 3.4% increase in the corresponding period of the previous year.
Net secondary income (net transfer) reached Rs 954.78 billion in the review period, up from Rs 700.43 billion in the same period of the previous year.
The number of Nepali workers taking first‑time approval for foreign employment stood at 175,591, while approvals for re‑entry totalled 163,924 in the review period. In the same period of the previous year, first‑time approvals were 190,384 and re‑entry approvals were 135,425.
