KATHMANDU: Nepal Rastra Bank (NRB) on Friday released a macroeconomic and financial situation report showing the Government of Nepal’s total expenditure at Rs 564.46 billion in the fifth month of fiscal year 2025/26.
The report, citing the Ministry of Finance’s Financial Comptroller General Office (FCGO), said recurrent expenditure amounted to Rs 398.05 billion, capital expenditure to Rs 33.87 billion and financial expenditure to Rs 132.54 billion in the review period.
Total revenue mobilisation of the government, including amounts to be transferred to provincial and local governments, stood at Rs 406.30 billion. Tax revenue totalled Rs 382.23 billion while non‑tax revenue was Rs 24.07 billion in the same period.
Cash balances held by the government at various accounts with NRB, including provincial and local government accounts, were Rs 253.02 billion in mid‑December 2025, up from Rs 130.73 billion in mid‑July 2025.
Provincial governments recorded total expenditure of Rs 29.01 billion in the review period, while resource mobilisation reached Rs 74.84 billion. The provincial resource mobilisation comprised grants and transfers from the Government of Nepal of Rs 57.51 billion and provincial revenue and other receipts of Rs 17.32 billion.
