KATHMANDU: The government has decided to accept a grant equivalent to $3.6 million for a project on the management of human–tiger interface. According to government spokesperson, a series of other administrative and development measures have also been approved by the government.
Minister for Communication and Information Technology and Government Spokesperson Jagadish Kharel announced the decisions while making public the Cabinet decisions of January 16. The grant will be provided by the Global Environment Facility via the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
A dialogue team led by a joint secretary at the Ministry of Finance (MoF) will be formed to hold talks to secure concessional loans and grants from the World Bank for a project relating to clean air and prosperity, Minister Kharel said.
The government has also decided to endorse the financial modality of the reservoir-based Budhigandaki hydropower project. As per the government decision, a commission has been formed under the coordination of former High Court judge Binod Prasad Sharma to investigate problems facing cooperatives.
Mohammad Shafillah has been nominated as vice-chairman of the Council for Technical Education and Vocational Training (CTEVT).
The government granted permission for various upcoming foreign visits by high-level officials, including the vice-chairman of National Planning Commission, to attend international events.
Appointments of promoted civil servants and ministry officials were also on the list of decisions.
