Industrial, Trade, Agriculture and Tourism Festival–2082 opens at Mechi Stadium in Jhapa

BHADRAPUR, JHAPA: The Industrial, Trade, Agriculture and Tourism Festival–2082 opened at Mechi Stadium in Chandragadhi, the district headquarters of Jhapa, today.

The event organised by Jhapa Chamber of Commerce and Industry (JCCI) aims to promote industry, trade, agriculture, livestock, education, health and tourism while strengthening the internal market, supporting professional development and emphasising exportable products, said Raj Kumar Rai, acting president of JCCI and coordinator of the festival’s main organising committee.

Coordinator Rai said 130 stalls have been constructed for the festival. He added the stalls will feature exhibitions and trade in local agricultural products, handicrafts, automobiles from various companies, agricultural tools, seeds, fertilisers, herbs, tourism and educational institutions, leather and garment items, footwear, carpets and pashmina, solar energy, hydropower, information technology, real estate and construction materials, banks and financial institutions, furniture and daily consumer goods.

To make the festival more attractive, Rai said arrangements have been made for a selfie zone, entertainment games, local and national level musical and comedy programmes, local songs and dances, cultural performances, a children’s park and cultural processions representing various ethnicities. Various sports programmes will also be organised during the festival period.

He said the festival is estimated to see transactions of at least Rs 100 million and attract more than 100,000 visitors. The chamber said nine different subcommittees have been formed to make the festival successful, and work is underway on management, security, publicity and monitoring.

The festival will continue until February 4, organisers said.
