KATHMANDU: Global IME Bank has launched a facility allowing customers to open bank accounts themselves using KIOSK machines at its branch offices, the bank said in a press release on Wednesday.

The service, introduced to mark the bank’s 19th anniversary, is currently available at the Digital Universe at the Kamaladi branch in Kathmandu. Customers can complete all required details on the KIOSK and submit necessary documents through the machine; an account number is issued on completion.

The bank said the KIOSK had previously been used at the Kamaladi Digital Universe for cash and cheque deposits, and that it plans to roll out the account‑opening service to other locations in future.

Global IME highlighted its nationwide reach and industry recognition in the release. The bank said it is the first private sector commercial bank to maintain a branch network across all 77 districts and serves customers through more than 1,000 service centres, including 352 branch offices, 384 ATMs, 150 branchless banking outlets, 68 extension and revenue collection counters, and three foreign representative offices.

The bank also noted a string of awards, citing Bank of the Year 2014, Best Internet Bank 2016, Best Bank Nepal 2024 and 2025, Euromoney Award for Excellence 2022, 2024 and 2025, Best Bank ESG Nepal 2024, and recognition as Best Employer.

Global IME said its remittance services operate in countries including the USA, UK, Canada, Australia, Malaysia, South Korea, Japan, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, India and Jordan, contributing to Nepal’s economic prosperity.
