President Paudel attends Democracy Day celebration main function

KATHMANDU: President Ramchandra Paudel attended a special ceremony today at the Army Pavilion in Tundikhel to mark National Democracy Day 2082 BS.

Speaking at the function, Prime Minister Sushila Karki said, “We have mobilised our full strength to ensure the March 5 election for the House of Representatives is held in a free, fair, impartial, peaceful and fear-free environment, and to open the door to a new era of enduring democratic stability.” Karki added that the government had devoted all its energy to holding the poll securely and confidently, and emphasised that democracy must deliver tangible results for ordinary people.

President Paudel participated in the event with the First Lady, Sabita Paudel, and was honoured with a ceremonial salute by the Nepali Army.

The celebration featured tableaux, a march-past, dances and musical presentations reflecting the country's culture and heritage.

The celebration was also attended by Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav, Chairperson of the National Assembly Narayan Prasad Dahal, ministers, heads and representatives of diplomatic missions in Nepal, senior government officials and distinguished members of society.
