Kathmandu: The government has directed all hospitals to provide comprehensive details of individuals injured during the Gen-Z protests last September, as authorities move to finalise relief and financial assistance.
Dr Prakash Budhathoki, spokesperson for the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), stated that all health institutions involved in treating protest-related injuries must submit their records to the Ministry by 27 February. The directive follows coordination with a special committee tasked with ensuring effective treatment, proper listing, and accurate classification of the injured.
So far, classification details for 200 injured individuals have been received. Officials noted that some people with minor injuries may not have come forward, as they are not eligible for government support.
Under the government’s scheme, individuals classified as critically or seriously injured will receive a monthly allowance of Rs 9,000, while those with moderate injuries will receive Rs 4,000 per month. According to official data, a total of 2,599 people were reported injured during the protests on 8 and 9 September 2025.
The move is aimed at streamlining relief efforts and ensuring timely financial support for all affected by the unrest.
