KATHMANDU: Air pollution in Kathmandu Valley and other major cities has surged to unhealthy levels, prompting the Ministry of Health and Population to issue a public advisory urging immediate precautions. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) is reported to be around 200, a level classified as highly sensitive and unhealthy; by contrast, AQI values between 0 and 50 are considered satisfactory.

In a six‑point notice, the ministry asked residents to remain indoors except for essential work, advised children, the elderly and people with respiratory conditions to wear masks, recommended use of group transportation where possible, discouraged burning of waste, and urged anyone experiencing health problems to seek hospital care without delay.

With outdoor air quality deteriorating, maintaining clean indoor air has become essential. Responding to that need, CG Electronics of Chaudhary Group has introduced two high‑capacity air purifiers from global brand Midea to the Nepali market: the KJ500G‑F11 and the KJ400G‑Z1 Pro.

The KJ500G‑F11 is designed for large spaces such as halls, meeting rooms and offices up to 66 square metres. It features a Smart AI mode that continuously monitors room pollution and adjusts fan speed to conserve energy and extend filter life, a Clean Air Delivery Rate (CADR) of 450 m³/h for rapid air exchange, an H13 HEPA filter rated to capture 99.97 per cent of airborne pollutants including PM2.5, and plasma sterilisation technology intended to reduce bacteria and viruses.

The KJ400G‑Z1 Pro is aimed at smaller living spaces and offices up to 55 square metres. It offers a CADR of 380 m³/h, quiet operation down to 30 dB, a negative ion generator to help reduce odours and smoke, and an H13 HEPA filter combined with a pre‑filter and active carbon filter to remove fine particles and other impurities.

Both models include real‑time air quality indicators, visible filter lifespan displays, timer functions, and selectable turbo and silent modes. CG Electronics said after‑sales support and filter replacement services will be available through its nationwide service network.

The purifiers are available at major electronics retailers and CG Electronics showrooms across Nepal. With air quality at unhealthy levels, CG Electronics recommends considering Midea air purifiers to help maintain cleaner, safer indoor air for homes and offices.
