MADHYABINDU, NAWALPARASI: The Butwal-Narayangadh road section, which has remained blocked to traffic since Friday, is yet to be fully operational, and travellers have been stranded on the road for three days.
The blockage followed heavy rain that made the Daunne section in Binayi Tribeni Rural Municipality-2 of Nawalpur district along the East-West Highway slippery and muddy, Superintendent of Police (SP) Yubaraj Khadka at the District Police Office said.
Vehicles travelling from east to west have not been able to operate because of the slippery uphill stretch, while vehicles travelling from west to east are operating to some extent, he added.
Long-distance passenger and freight vehicles have been unable to reach their destinations because of obstructions on the road since last Friday's rainfall.
Meanwhile, the Narayangadh-Butwal Road Project has said efforts are underway to repair and improve the blocked section. The operation of large freight vehicles remains prohibited between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am today.
