US envoy congratulates RSP President Lamichhane

KATHMANDU: US Special Envoy for South and Central Asian Affairs, Sergio Gor, has congratulated Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) President Rabi Lamichhane, following the party’s election victory.

The US Embassy in Kathmandu said Special Envoy Gor called Lamichhane on Tuesday to congratulate the RSP on its success in the election. During the telephone conversation, Gor said that the United States is eager to cooperate with Nepal’s new government to strengthen economic partnership and deepen the friendship between the two countries.

In the House of Representatives election held on March 5, the RSP secured 182 of 275 seats, with 125 under the first‑past‑the‑post (direct) system and 57 under the proportional representation category.
