KATHMANDU: Yamaha Nepal’s newly launched FZS FI Hybrid — the country’s first hybrid motorcycle — sold out within a week of its official debut, the company said on Thursday. The sell-out has prompted the distributor to open pre-bookings for the next batch.
The FZS FI Hybrid, introduced as a high-technology successor to the FZ line, is designed to combine performance with improved fuel efficiency and lower emissions. Yamaha said the model addresses rising fuel costs and growing urban traffic pressures by offering enhanced power alongside 'exceptional fuel efficiency,' positioning it as Nepal’s highest-mileage motorcycle.
Yamaha Nepal said the market response was 'overwhelming,' noting strong acceptance among riders who are increasingly focused on technology and mileage. The company confirmed that fresh stock is being prepared and that customers can register interest and obtain pre-booking details through Yamaha’s official social media channels and its authorised dealership network across Nepal.
Commenting on the rapid sell-out, Deepak Kumar Agrawal, Executive Director and CEO of Yamaha Nepal, said, “The response has been truly encouraging, especially considering the increasing importance of technology and mileage in today’s riding environment. It reflects the trust customers place in Yamaha’s vision and products. The Yamaha Nepal family is filled with gratitude towards the loyalty of our customers.”
Agrawal added that Yamaha remains committed to delivering “innovative, practical mobility solutions that align with the evolving needs of Nepali riders,” signalling continued investment in technology-led models for the local market.
It is said the strong early demand for the FZS FI Hybrid could mark a shift in Nepal’s two-wheeler market towards smarter, more fuel-efficient options, as consumers weigh running costs and environmental concerns alongside traditional performance metrics. Yamaha’s quick sell-out and the opening of pre-bookings suggest a robust consumer appetite for hybrid technology in the country.
