CHITWAN: The 'Ride to Caravan Dolpa', a six‑day motorcycle expedition organised to promote domestic and ride tourism, concluded on Monday after covering 1,252 kilometres and linking four provinces and 16 districts of Nepal.

Organised by Himalayan Riders Chitwan, the journey began on March 25 from the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chitwan in Bharatpur Metropolitan City and returned on March 30. The team reached Dolpa, the trip’s principal and most remote destination, on March 27.

Twenty‑three people took part in the ride, using 20 motorcycles. Riders travelled through districts in Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali provinces, visiting Tanahun, Kaski, Parbat, Baglung, Eastern Rukum, Western Rukum, Dolpa, Jajarkot, Surkhet, Salyan, Dang, Kapilvastu, Rupandehi, Nawalpur and Parasi along the route.

The disciplined formation of riders, their reflective jackets and fluttering flags drew public attention and helped convey messages about tourism and road safety.

Amrit Joshi, coordinator of Himalayan Riders, said the main aim was to showcase Nepal’s hilly and Himalayan regions through motorcycle travel. “The ride was very successful as per the goal,” he said.

A stakeholder debate on the potential of ride tourism was held in Dolpa during the trip. Mohan KC, co‑coordinator of Himalayan Riders and president of the Chitwan Automobile Association, said the journey highlighted lesser‑known tourist sites while promoting road safety.

Rajan Piya, president of Bagmati Automobiles’ Association and vice president of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Chitwan, said the ride was both a new experience and an eye‑opener for domestic tourism. “This trip has proved that there is good potential for adventure tourism and ride tourism in Nepal,” he said, adding that Dolpa could be an excellent destination for riders.

Himalayan Riders Chitwan said the event aimed to encourage more travellers to explore Nepal’s remote and scenic regions by motorcycle.
