KATHMANDU: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has praised cooperation with the international community for advancing investment promotion and private sector development in Nepal.

Speaking at a programme in Kathmandu attended by members of the diplomatic community, development partners and government officials, Dhakal said ties between the FNCCI and foreign partners have strengthened in recent years and that their support is indispensable to the country’s economic progress.

“Collaboration with the diplomatic community and development partners has played a significant role in strengthening Nepal’s private sector; your cooperation in areas ranging from policy dialogue to investment promotion and capacity building has greatly helped us move forward. I believe the new leadership of FNCCI will also further strengthen the relationship with diplomatic and development partners,” he said.

Dhakal credited the diplomatic corps with expanding economic relations and creating new opportunities through efforts to promote trade, investment and business‑to‑business links, and he thanked development partners for their guidance and constructive dialogue during his tenure.

He highlighted partners’ contributions to small and medium enterprise development, entrepreneurship promotion and institutional strengthening, and said joint initiatives in green development, skills training, innovation and inclusive business were beginning to yield positive results.

As the country’s largest private sector umbrella organisation, the FNCCI has acted as a bridge between government, businesses and international partners, Dhakal said, noting the federation’s focus on policy advocacy, effective government dialogue and creating an investment‑friendly environment, as well as its attention to emerging sectors such as startups, digital economy and green business.

He added that the international community had continued to support Nepal during challenging periods, reflecting trust and commitment to the country, and urged sustained partnerships and continued investment promotion as Nepal navigates a critical stage of economic development.

The programme was attended by ambassadors from various countries, representatives of diplomatic missions and development partner organisations, and officials of the Government of Nepal.
