KANCHANPUR: Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FNCCI) President Chandra Prasad Dhakal has urged a change in public perception of the private sector.
Speaking at the inauguration of the 34th annual general meeting (AGM) of Kanchanpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Kanchanpur district on Sunday, Dhakal said the notion that the private sector exists only to make a profit should be revised. He argued that the private sector's contribution to the nation's gross domestic product (GDP) is significant and that it plays a central role in infrastructure development.
On the occasion, Dhakal said Sudurpashchim Province has immense tourism potential and needs active promotion, adding that Badimalika, Ramaroshan and other sites are key religious tourist destinations in the province.
He expressed confidence that returns will be obtained if honest efforts are made.
Dhakal also said the province benefits from its proximity to India's mega industrial estates.
