KATHMANDU: WorldLink Communications completed a dustbin handover and clean‑up programme at Manjushree Park in Kirtipur Ward No 6 on Wednesday to mark Earth Day 2026.

The event, organised jointly with Pragatishil Yuba Samuha and the Jal Binayak Community Forest User Group, focused on improving waste management in the historic park and the adjacent community forest.

WorldLink’s CSR director and promoter‑shareholder, Anupa Bhandari Jalan, and Deputy Mayor of Kirtipur Municipality, Shubha Lakshmi Shakya (Sunita), jointly handed over keys to newly installed dustbins designated for biodegradable and non‑biodegradable waste. Participants carried out a collective clean‑up of the park and forest area and pledged to maintain the site as a plastic‑free zone.

Bhandari Jalan said a free Wi‑Fi service had been made available in the area to improve convenience for visitors and to enhance digital access and the tourism experience. She added, 'Earth Day is not just a celebration but a shared responsibility of everyone,' and noted this year’s slogan, 'Our Power, Our Earth,' as a call for collective action to protect the planet.

Deputy Mayor Shakya praised the initiative and expressed hope that WorldLink would continue to provide guidance and support for similar community activities in future.

Sujan Maharjan, president of Pragatishil Yuba Samuha, said the club, established in 2050 BS, has long been involved in the conservation and promotion of Manjushree Park and the community forest. He thanked local residents and stakeholders for their active participation and said the community’s involvement is key to preserving the site’s cultural and tourist identity.

WorldLink said the activity is part of an ongoing CSR programme that includes distribution of educational materials and warm clothing to schools, tree planting and community forest conservation, mental health awareness programmes, online education in remote areas, installation of solar panels in health institutions, online safety awareness, and digital capacity‑building for young people.
