KATHMANDU: Stock Brokers' Association of Nepal (SBAN), together with Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE), held a one-day training programme on cyber security and Information System (IS) audit in Kathmandu today. The event drew participation from chief executive officers and IT heads of all broker member institutions.

The session, attended by 180 participants, was organised to reinforce the importance of cybersecurity and regular system audits as digital transactions expand in the capital market. Kumar Pudasaini served as the lead trainer, while Nisha Timilsina, head of the IT division at NEPSE, provided practical instruction on IT systems and the Trading Management System (TMS).

In his opening remarks, NEPSE Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Choodamani Chapagain stressed the need to prioritise cyber security as the capital market becomes “increasingly digital and automated due to rapid technological evolution.” He said regular IS audits and robust IT systems are essential “for maintaining investor trust, ensuring data security, and meeting regulatory compliance.”

SBAN President Sagar Dhakal highlighted the growing significance of cybersecurity and urged that “all stakeholders must strictly follow security regulations.” Liladhar Subedi, who delivered the closing remarks, expressed confidence that such capacity-building initiatives would better equip market participants to manage cyber risks.

The programme was moderated by Kulchandra Rijal. NEPSE division heads Murahari Parajuli and Sagar Dhungel, along with IT branch head Prabhakar Ghimire, were also present.

NEPSE reiterated its commitment to making the capital market more secure, transparent and technology-driven through similar training and capacity-building efforts.
