CG Meridia AI air fryer gains market traction in Nepal

KATHMANDU: CG, one of Nepal’s leading electronics and home appliance brands, has said its first AI-powered smart air fryer under the CG Meridia portfolio gained significant market traction within six months of its launch.

The company said the appliance has become a popular choice for households seeking healthier cooking options, a trend it linked in part to recent unseasonal rain and damp weather. The Meridia model is Nepal’s first AI-integrated air fryer and features an internal camera that automatically identifies the type and weight of food to select optimal cooking settings.

CG said the fryer also offers smart control through the CG Smart Home App, enabling users to monitor and manage cooking remotely via Internet of Things connectivity. Designed for medium to large families, the unit has an 8-litre capacity and uses a water spray technology intended to keep food juicy inside while maintaining a crunchy exterior.

The company highlighted the product’s health benefits, saying it can reproduce traditional fried flavours using up to 90 per cent less oil. The system includes 25 automatic menus covering a range of dishes from roasted chicken to cakes.

Technical specifications include an 1800-watt convection heating mechanism and rapid airflow technology to ensure even cooking and preserve nutrients. A see-through window allows users to check the cooking process without opening the basket.

The product is available nationwide through 28 showrooms, including CG Digital and LG Shoppe outlets, an extensive dealer network and the brand’s official website. Post-purchase support is provided through more than 40 service centres across the country.

“The encouraging response we have received over the six-month period proves that Nepali consumers are very conscious of technology and health,” an official from CG Electronics said. The company added it remains committed to introducing innovative technologies under its slogan, “Experience Life with CG,” to meet evolving customer needs.
