BIRGUNJ, PARSA: Six manufacturing units in the Simara Special Economic Zone (SEZ) in Bara district have begun commercial production, a development expected to boost local employment and stimulate supply chains.
The firms now in production are Pashupati Ceramics, Brilliant Shoes, Balaji Manufacturing, Nepal Agro Tools, ACM Vehicles and Bio Comp Nepal. Together, they are expected to generate employment for roughly 700 people and to stimulate activity in the local supply chain.
Pappu Giri, chief of the SEZ Authority, said the six units occupy 343 bighas of land out of the SEZ’s total 833 bighas, and that more than a dozen additional firms are at various stages of establishment. “Investment by individual units ranges from Rs 2 million to Rs 200 million,” he said, reflecting a mix of small, medium and larger capital projects.
The authority is offering industrial land at a lease rate of Rs 5 per square kilometre. The SEZ is divided into five blocks: Block A covers 343 bigha, Block B 128 bigha, Block C 49.5 bigha, Block D 133 bigha and Block E 178.5 bigha. One bigha equals 72,900 square feet.
Industry sources said the initial wave of production could help attract further investment as remaining plots are developed and new firms move from set‑up to output.
