Possibility of rain in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali, Sudurpashchim: MFD

KATHMANDU: Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD) has forecast generally cloudy weather over the hilly and Himalayan regions and partly cloudy conditions over the Tarai for today.

The MFD warned of a possibility of light to moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the hilly and Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces and across other hilly and Himalayan areas. Light rain with thunder and lightning is also possible at a few places in the remaining Tarai areas.

Many places in Kathmandu valley experienced rain this morning, with showers continuing at a few locations.

For tonight, the MFD said the Himalayan region will remain generally cloudy while the rest of the country will be partly cloudy. There is a chance of light to moderate rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at a few places in the Himalayan region, and light rain or snowfall with thunder and lightning at one or two places in the hilly regions and the Tarai of Koshi and Sudurpashchim provinces.

The MFD said the country is under the influence of a western low-pressure system, local winds and a low-pressure area in the lower atmosphere near the eastern region of Nepal.
