KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) recorded a marginal decline on Monday, with the benchmark index slipping 1.03 points to close at 2,730.91. The Sensitive Index, which tracks large-cap companies, rose 0.50 points to 468.05.
Market activity involved 5,828,604 shares of 339 companies, generating a total turnover of Rs 2,450,878,449.30. Of the companies traded, 119 saw their share prices rise, 132 fell, and 18 were unchanged.
The highest turnover of the day was recorded by Sahas Urja (SAHAS), followed by Reliance Spinning Mills (RSML), SY Panel Nepal (SYPNL), Api Power Company (API) and Shivam Cements (SHIVM).
Notable gainers included Ingwa Hydropower (IHL), Bungal Hydro (BUNGAL), Sagarmatha Jalabidhyut Company (SMJC), NIBL Samriddhi Fund-2 (NIBSF2) and 8.5% Prabhu Bank Debenture 2087 (PBLD87). Prominent losers were NIFRA Uraj Rinpatra 7%-2085/86 (NIFRAUR85/86), SY Panel Nepal (SYPNL), Palpa Cement Industries (PCIL), Bhagawati Hydropower Development Company (BGWT) and Bottlers Nepal (Balaju) (BNL).
Sector indices were mixed. Others Index rose 0.31%, HydroPower Index 0.16%, Banking SubIndex 0.14%, Development Bank Index 0.03% and Investment Index rose 0.09%.
Manufacturing and Processing fell 0.58%, Non Life Insurance 0.69%, Trading Index 0.48%, Hotels and Tourism Index 0.23%, Microfinance Index 0.24%, Life Insurance 0.07%, Mutual Fund 0.13% and Finance Index fell 0.01%.
