KATHMANDU: Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle today rejected allegations that information on tax determination for electric vehicle imports was leaked.
Speaking at a meeting of the Public Accounts Committee of the House of Representatives, Minister Dr Wagle said attempts are being made to spread rumours about revenue loss and to defame him. He urged lawmakers to produce evidence if they have any.
"I will not only quit the post of the finance minister and politics but also my public life," Dr Wagle said, adding he was prepared to stake his career on the claim that no misappropriation had occurred.
The minister added that such a level of moral commitment was unlikely among other politicians in the country. The committee meeting heard his denial, but no evidence of revenue leakage was presented during the session.
