Xiaomi 17T launched with Leica 5X telephoto, 6,500mAh battery in Nepal

KATHMANDU: Xiaomi has launched the Xiaomi 17T in Nepal, introducing a handset that ushers in a new era of Leica-powered optics for the local market.

The device combines a Leica 5X telephoto camera, an intelligent eye-care display and a large battery. The phone is being marketed as an imaging flagship with a refined design for modern users.

The phone’s camera system is led by a 50MP main sensor built on Leica UltraPure optical design with a 1G + 6P Leica Summilux lens structure. The Leica 5X telephoto module supports 50MP OIS-stabilised shots, close-up macro photography from 30cm, optical-grade zoom up to 10X and AI-assisted zoom up to 120X. Xiaomi also highlights HDR10+ 4K video recording at 60 fps and enhanced background bokeh for cinematic results.

The Xiaomi 17T debuts a feature, Leica Live Moment, which captures motion and expressions leading up to a key instant to add context to stills. The phone uses a 1/1.55-inch sensor and the same Leica UltraPure lens design to deliver what Xiaomi says is improved dynamic range and depth of field. Portrait mode includes a natural blur effect, and Live Cinematography supports Ultra-HD Live Moment in 4K with seamless zoom effects for creators.

On the display front, the device introduces Xiaomi Vision Care with a 1.5K AMOLED panel and peak brightness of 3,500 nits. The screen adapts to ambient light and manages blue light, flicker and motion blur; Xiaomi says the 17T is its first model to receive TÜV Rheinland quadruple eye-care certification.

Powering the phone is a 6,500mAh battery, which Xiaomi states is 18% larger than the previous generation, paired with 67W Hyper Charge that can reach full charge in under an hour. The handset runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 8500-Ultra built on a 4nm process, which Xiaomi says brings upgrades in CPU, GPU and AI performance for multitasking and gaming.

The Xiaomi 17T is available in Violet, Blue and Black in a 12GB RAM + 512GB storage configuration, priced at Rs 89,999. Purchasers will receive a complimentary Redmi Buds 6 Play valued at Rs 2,499.
