KATHMANDU: Ncell Business said on Tuesday that its Integrated Data Centre (IDC) in Nakkhu, Lalitpur, has received the ANSI/TIA-942-C Rated 3 (Tier III) Design & Constructed Facility Certification, an international standard for data centre design and construction.
The certification, awarded after an assessment by Data Center Media LLP, a Telecommunications Industry Association–authorised auditor, confirms the facility meets Tier III requirements for concurrently maintainable infrastructure. Ncell said the centre is designed to deliver about 99.982% availability through fully redundant power, cooling and network systems, allowing operations to continue during planned maintenance or unexpected events.
Ncell noted the IDC is also Nepal’s first government-certified data centre and cloud service provider. The company added that the facility complies with international information security and privacy standards under ISO 27001 and ISO 27701, and that Ncell holds ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certifications for quality and environmental management.
“This certification is a proud milestone for Ncell and for Nepal, as our data centre is the first in the country to receive this globally recognised TIA certification for design and constructed facility,” said Michael Foley, Chief Executive Officer of Ncell. “We are committed to providing world-class digital infrastructure that gives local businesses the confidence to grow while also contributing to the government’s digital transformation aspirations. Customers across critical sectors can now rely on secure, always-available services hosted right here in Nepal, because reliability is essential for businesses that cannot afford downtime.”
Ncell Business said the data centre will support banks, insurance companies, government institutions, small and medium-sized enterprises and large corporations by providing secure, highly reliable infrastructure for mission-critical applications, regulatory compliance and uninterrupted digital services.
The company said the Rated 3 design improves business continuity and disaster recovery through built-in redundancy and robust backup systems, reducing disruption during maintenance, outages, cyber incidents or natural disasters.
Ncell added that the certification helps enable secure local hosting of critical data, strengthen data sovereignty, reduce reliance on foreign infrastructure and advance Nepal as an emerging digital hub.
