KATHMANDU: Popular singer and actor Prakash Saput has been appointed musical ambassador of IME, the remittance company announced on Friday.

IME introduced Saput at a programme where company officials said the partnership aims to make remittance services more effective and strengthen ties with customers. The company highlighted Saput’s wide appeal across Nepali society, noting his original folk compositions and socially conscious songs are popular from villages and remote areas to urban centres and Nepalis living abroad.

Saput’s music often reflects the experiences of Nepalis who work overseas, and IME said his involvement will help raise public awareness of the role that remittances play in the country’s economy and society.

Speaking at the signing of the agreement, IME General Manager Badri Katwal said, “Since Saput's creations speak to the reality of society and touch the hearts of Nepalis, this collaboration will add a distinct sense of belonging to our campaign.” He added that music is a powerful way to connect people at home with those abroad and will serve as a companion for migrant Nepali workers.

Saput said he was excited to join a prestigious organisation like IME and pledged to help keep Nepali brothers and sisters scattered around the world connected to their homeland through music.
