KATHMANDU: Nepal Chamber of Commerce (NCC) and Nepal Mediciti Hospital have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to provide concessional healthcare services to NCC officials, employees, district chamber members and their direct dependants.

At a ceremony at Chamber Bhawan, Jamal, on Thursday, NCC's Health Committee Coordinator, Mrigendra Mehar Shrestha, and Nepal Mediciti's Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr Amit Tomar, signed the agreement. The MoU will remain in effect for one year and covers NCC executive committee members, employees, district chamber members and their direct dependants — spouses, parents and up to two children aged under 22.

Under the terms, Nepal Mediciti will offer a 10% discount on inpatient and outpatient services. The discount excludes medicines, consumables, implants, package services, and external tests, and will not apply when services are obtained on a cashless basis through insurance.

In addition, the partnership will provide health-awareness programmes twice a year for NCC members and staff, Basic Life Support (BLS) training, special health packages and blood donation drives. Both organisations have agreed to appoint points of contact to manage service delivery and coordination and to keep shared information confidential.

Speaking at the event, NCC President Kamlesh Kumar Agrawal said the arrangement will make quality healthcare more accessible to members and the wider business community. "Regular health check-ups, health awareness and preventive healthcare services would contribute to building a healthy business community," he said, adding that healthy human resources are the foundation of economic prosperity.

Meanwhile, Nepal Mediciti Hospital Chairman Dr Upendra Mahato said the agreement continues an existing relationship and pledged to provide more effective and accessible care to NCC members and businesspeople, calling for joint efforts from all stakeholders for the development of the health sector.
