SAN FRANCISCO: Google has reportedly reduced Meta’s access to its Gemini artificial intelligence models after the social media company requested more computing power than Google could provide. The reported restrictions are said to have delayed some of Meta’s internal AI projects.
Meta has reportedly asked employees to use AI tokens more efficiently to make better use of available computing resources. The move comes as technology companies face growing demand for AI infrastructure, with computing capacity struggling to keep up despite major investments in chips and data centres. Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has also said that limited computing capacity affected Google Cloud’s growth and increased customer demand backlog.
