KATHMANDU: Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has cut retail prices of petroleum products with effect from today after international market prices improved and it received a new purchase price from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC).
“The price has decreased by Rs 15.09 per litre for petrol, Rs 29.46 for diesel, Rs 29.42 per litre for aviation turbine fuel (ATF), and it has also decreased for liquefied petroleum gas (LPG),” the NOC said in a press statement on Tuesday.
NOC’s Board of Directors approved rounded retail reductions: petrol by Rs 20 per litre; diesel and kerosene by Rs 30 per litre; domestic ATF by Rs 40 per litre; international ATF for Kathmandu by $265 per kilolitre; and LPG by Rs 100 per cylinder. International ATF prices for Pokhara and Bhairahawa have been set at the breakeven point.
NOC announced new retail prices (including VAT) for locations within 15 kilometres of its depots. Petrol is now Rs 194.50 in the first category, Rs 196 in the second category and Rs 197 in the third category. Diesel and kerosene are Rs 192.50 in the first category, Rs 194 in the second category and Rs 195 in the third category. Domestic ATF is Rs 229 per litre. International ATF is $1,566 per kilolitre in Kathmandu, $1,100 in Pokhara and $1,085 in Bhairahawa. LPG is Rs 2,060 for 14.2 kg and Rs 1,030 for 7.1 kg.
According to NOC, the state-owned trading enterprise responsible for the import, storage, and distribution of petroleum products, the first category includes Charali, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Amlekhgunj, Bhalbari, Nepalgunj, Dhangadhi and Birgunj. The second category covers Surkhet and Dang. The third category covers Kathmandu, Pokhara and Dipayal.
